Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick
by: Walter Benjamin Hare
Aaron Slick is a bashful country fellow in Oklahoma, in love with Miss Rosie, a widow-lady on the adjoining farm. As in all good melodramas, a villain appears to complicate the life of Miss Rosie. The crook discovers that her farm has oil, unknown to her, and sets about to swindle her out of her property. The villain, Merridew, and his “niece” Gladys, who are city folk, suffer many hilarious trials and tribulations, such as run-ins with the livestock and other hazards of country life, as they carry out their dastardly plan. The villain buys the farm, and Miss Rosie moves to Chicago to become a city lady. But in the end, the hero, Aaron Slick, saves the day, and as all heroes must, brings the crook to justice, and all is well.
