Much Ado About Nothing intricately weaves together romantic misunderstandings, witty banter, and deception. The play follows the romantic escapades of two couples: the sharp-tongued Beatrice and the cynical Benedick, as well as the idealistic Claudio and the charming Hero. As rumors swirl and schemes unfold, the characters navigate love, jealousy, and mistaken identities with humor and intrigue. Set against a backdrop of vibrant wit and lighthearted humor, “Much Ado About Nothing” is a timeless tale of love and laughter that continues to captivate audiences with its delightful blend of romance and comedy.

This Valentine’s Day, experience the magic of The Fantasticks, the world’s longest-running musical, at the Pines Evergreen Room! Perfect for a romantic evening, The Fantasticks offers an enchanting look at the journey of young love through captivating music and poignant storytelling.

Set against a simple yet mythical backdrop, the narrative centers on Luisa and Matt, two innocent teenagers who fall in love, only to discover the complexities of life beyond their neighboring backyards. A whimsical tale of romance and reality, this production features memorable lyrics and soothing melodies that have charmed audiences for generations. Steel Magnolias explores the enduring bonds among a group of Southern women in a small-town beauty salon. Through laughter and tears, the women share life’s joys and challenges, from weddings and births to illness and loss. Central to the story is the delicate yet resilient relationship between Shelby, a young woman with health challenges, and her mother, M’Lynn.

Set in Louisiana, the play showcases the strength and grace of these women, described as being as “delicate as magnolias but tough as steel.” This touching narrative celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the power of community.

* To audition for a role in one of our plays, check the audition schedule above.  Auditions are held in our theatre in Brownstown unless otherwise stated.  Our February play is presented as a dinner theatre in Seymour.  All other performances are on our stage in Brownstown.

Anyone wishing to work on the production in an offstage capacity (lights, sound, set building, painting, ushering, costuming, etc.) is welcome to attend auditions, or to contact JCCT at 812-358-JCCT or email: mail@jcct.org.

Unless the director specifies otherwise, no preparation is needed for auditions. However, those trying out should bring a list of dates which might conflict with rehearsals. Jackson County Community Theatre is found at the Royal Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 W. Walnut St., Brownstown.
