About
JCYAT offers an annual workshop for students age six to eighteen. Participants learn skills including stage basics, movement, projection, diction, characterization, improvisation, and technical aspects. Activities take place at the theatre.
Funding Change
In past years, we’ve been able to provide our workshop free of charge thanks to the generous support of state and local groups. Seymour Tri Kappa was the first to fund our program with their generous gift in the summer of 2015. From 2016-2020, our program continued to be free of charge thanks to the Art in the Park Grant through the Indiana Arts Commission and Department of Natural Resources. However, since the Art in the Park Grant Program is discontinued, we are now offering the program for $60 per participant in 2024, which covers t-shirts, snacks, staffing, and supplies for our activities.
Plays and Performances
Workshop participants have the opportunity to audition for the summer production on the last day of the workshop. However, participation in the play is not required for workshop participants. Those who are unable to attend the workshop may also audition for the play.
JCYAT Summer Workshop: June 3rd-7th
Ages 6-9: 9am-11:30am
Ages 9-12: 1pm-3:30pm
Teens (Ages 13 – 18): 6:00pm-8:30pm
It will be another great year at our summer workshop, a part of Jackson County Young Artists’ Theatre. The workshop will end with auditions for our summer JCYAT show. Please note that participation in the summer show is not required.
Registration opens in the spring, and the link is published via e-mail, social media, and on the website. Please be aware that our program typically fills up quickly, so don’t delay! Students attending the workshop can expect to learn about all aspects of theatre—both on stage and behind the scenes. Further details about the workshop schedule will be sent to participants before the workshop week.
